Things to do in Salt Lake City

UNDERSTANDING ADDRESSES

Salt Lake City is set up as a grid system with the LDS Temple located in the center. Most addresses will include two numbers referring to the north/south street and the east/west street. The first number indicates where within the block a building is located and the second number is the street it is located on. For example:350 South 600 East - This building is located halfway between 300 South and 400 South and is on 600 East.

Tip: Locals will often shorten the addresses or street names which can be confusing when looking up addresses. If someone suggests you go to a really great restaurant on “two south” they are referring to the street 200 South.

Public Transportation

 UTA (Utah Transit Authority)

  • Salt Lake City’s public transportation includes buses, the TRAX (light rail system), and the FrontRunner (commuter train). The Little America Hotel is located next to the Courthouse TRAX Station and many bus stops.

Soda shops are popular in Salt Lake City due to the influence of the LDS Church culture. “Dirty soda” - a mixture of soda with creams, fruits, and/or syrups - are an alternative to coffee and tea for many LDS Church Members. The nearest soda shops are a short drive away from the Little America hotel.
